Emma Nourse
Emma Nourse is an expressive and tactile painter who is inspired by still life tableaux and floral arrangements. Nourse uses colour, brushstrokes, and gesture to give expression to complex human emotions. Her paintings seek to explore how feelings can be conveyed through commonplace subject matter which has been abstracted and heightened. There is a strong sense of longing and nostalgia, as well hope and joy, which can be seen throughout her work. Nourse is also inspired by the evocative contrast between expressing enduring emotions such as love and connection through the subject matter of fragile blooms slowly falling into decay.
Emma Nourse graduated from Michaelis School of Fine Art in 2011. She has participated in a number of shows with Salon Ninety One, as well as having two solo shows at other galleries. Her works can be found in private collections around the world.
