POLYNESIA

20.05 – 20.06.15

Following in the footsteps of two great masters Henri Matisse and Paul Gauguin, this two-person exhibition of recent paintings by Paul Senyol & Cathy Layzell, explores the islands of Polynesia as its central theme. Layzell has worked predominantly in oil on canvas, while Senyol has chosen mixed media on board for this show. The artists have also created two large-scale collaborative paintings towards the exhibition. Polynesia represents a collection of abstract paintings, which depict the diversity of the central & southern pacific through unexpected perspectives, hues & brushstrokes. The paintings leave the viewer with an intense awareness of the power & unpredictability of nature and this exotic paradise.

DOG DAYS

21.01 – 14.02.15

Solo Exhibition by Sarah Pratt

Dog Days
Vanishing into the green light

Sarah Pratt presents a body of work that is inspired by the life and death of her dog, Laptop.

The death of a loyal companion invokes feelings of pain, isolation and nostalgia.

The process of remembering seems to root us in another time and place, a timeless, intangible realm.

Intrigued by ‘The Wood Between the Worlds’ in C.S. Lewis’s ‘The Magician’s Nephew’, the artist’s work also alludes to her imagined existence of a strange, green in-between place where her deceased dog now resides.

Using pen, ink, gouache, collage, gold leaf and paper cutting techniques, she focuses on producing a series of works that are an exploration of life, death, memory and place.

NIGHT WATCH

18.02 – 14.03.15

Night Watch – A solo exhibition of recent paintings by Gabrielle Raaff.

Working with the ephemeral qualities of watercolour and ink, Raaff explores certain spatial conditions of figurative and architectural form within the urban realm. Her latest works see a return to oil and a more intuitive, visceral exploration of the internal landscape of the subconscious.
